PRESERVING THE LEGACY: THE ALOOTOOK IPELLIE ARCHIVE
“We humans have to wonder how the world may have turned out if it weren’t blessed with the creativity of its artists.”

“Having once been subjected to experiencing some of their determination to recreate us as human beings much like themselves, I have often wondered how much longer they intend to play 'god' in our lives.”

—·A SOVEREIGNTY—STATEMENT·—
Self-Funded. Family-Led. Inuit-Owned.
My father, Alootook Ipellie, identified his "tools of operation" as "the power of the written word and the spilling of India ink on illustration board". He saw himself as a choreographer of "distinctive dance steps" that allowed him to survive on "both sides of an invisible border".
As his daughter, I have chosen a new tool: the logic of code.
This archive is my "fancy dance." By building this platform from scratch, without government oversight or institutional grants, I am ensuring his voice remains as he intended—independent and "blessed with the creativity" that he believed changed the world. This is a space of Inuit Digital Sovereignty, where his legacy is held by his family, for his people.
